D008 Dance Fitness Workout DVD - Fitness queen Jane Fonda adds to her impressive Prime Time workout series, aimed at older exercisers or those who are new to fitness, with Firm and Burn. Firm and Burn is aimed at toning and fat-burning--the fun way. This dance-based aerobic routine is infectious, as is Fonda's own passion for the moves. As always, Fonda is very clear about setting up each new set of moves, and in providing ways to both modify a move for beginners, or to add intensity for those wanting to challenge themselves. The routine includes doo-wop, Latin, and funk segments, as well as Fonda's all-important warm-up and cool-down segments. Some of the moves are done with light weights (3- or 5-pound ones would be fine), and some of the moves are done against the back of a chair. Otherwise, all you need to Firm and Burn is a willing soul and a body that wants to move and shake. Firm and Burn also includes an interesting 18-minute meditation segment that is both relaxing and very focusing. It's a nice way to end the Firm and Burn exercise class, but it definitely doesn't need to be done every time. Well, what are you waiting for? Let's get moving. Dancing is one of my favorite ways to burn calories and stay fit. So join me and strengthen our heart, muscles and mind with three dance-based routines that can burn fat, firm your body and give you energy. My low-impact workouts are a safe, simple and effective way to get in shape at any age. Do these fun routines regularly, plus my bonus meditation segment, and you'll look and feel your best. Onward, Jane Warm-Up (5 Minutes): It's crucial that we warm up to gradually raise the heart rate and gently limber the body before every workout. Doo-Wop (10 Minutes): Tone key muscles and trim fat as we rock, bop and hand jive to the heart-pounding beat of live doo-wop music. Latin (10 Minutes): Let's swivel our hips and strengthen the lower body and waistline with mambo, cha-cha and merengue moves that really burn and firm. Old-School funk (10 Minutes): We'll put the fun in funk with fat-burning disco moves and groovy grapevines that really get the heart pumping. Cooldown (5 Minutes): Lower your heart rate gradually as we finish with light toning, balance exercises and soothing stretches. BONUS: 18-minute meditation program to quiet the mind and relieve stress A towel, chair and a set of light weights are recommended.
